Some pictures from my week!
Hai Chien (my main school) at a distance.
The portable library that comes on Mondays.
Here are some of the students clearing up leaves.
Here is a small temple. There is a a very famous big temple in the downtown area the name of which escapes me. Some nights, especially weekends I can here the noise of the drums and other instruments used in temple music.
The flowering trees over here are so pretty!
Orchids at a flower shop the director and one of the
teachers from Hai Chien brought Gem and I to.
Alex (teacher) and the flower shop owners

This is the plant they bought for me.
Later, Gem informed me that it reminded her of a marijuana plant.
hahaha!
We also visited a famous bakery.
The name of the bakery I assume.
This is what they got Gem and I from the bakery, the oddest of which include green bean roll, man cake, wife cake, and sweet bean and cheese cake.
~
Statement: This was a very odd and disconnected post.
I am now packing to spend the weekend in Nantou with another team while Gem goes on a team leader's retreat. I will probably write another post about my weekend on Monday.
Yum. Those bakeries can have odd stuff sometimes but they also tend to be the home of some AMAZINGLY delicious foods. HAVE FUN IN NANTOU!!! I TOTALLY wish I could go with you and show you around! You'll just have to explore with the girls yourself. :D
ReplyDeleteMan cake? wife cake?! What in the world?! that's weird. Cool plants though. We still have lots of snow. :(
ReplyDeleteI know right! they said wife cake is supposed to make you beautiful, and man cake makes you wise. very odd...
ReplyDeleteI tried the bean and cheese cake last night. It was interesting... To sweet and beany tasting.
Ooh bring me a man cake. I wouldn't mind being a little wiser.... (c:
DeleteI have never seen a portable library! That is soo cool! And I'm with Jem, Man and Wife cake? Thats hilarious! :D
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are gorgeous! They look like azaleas?
ReplyDeleteIt's so neat that the kids help clean up--with smiles, too!
