The flights went as well as a 13 & 3 hour flight can go. Take my advice and DON'T eat the airline food!!! Even though I only ate a very little, I felt nauseous for about a day after eating it. The though of it still makes me want to gag! Sorry to all you who absolutely LOVE airline food, I'm stating the truth here. ; ) Hehe.
Now on to the pictures!
This is me and my teammate, Gem.
This is my very first traditional Chinese meal.
It's called Hot Pot.
There is a burner on the table and you get to add vegetables and other "interesting things to it. This included squid, snails and oh yes, a live crayfish.
(Disclaimer: just because these things were in my soup doesn't mean I tried them!
Here are some things that went into my soup. The purple thing with
speckles to the left is taro root which is quite delicious.
Cool photo shot!
My apartment above the car repair shop.
A very cool old tree
(which I'm sure you wouldn't have been able to figure out without that clever caption)
Got swarmed by mosquitoes for this shot folks.
Rice fields look a lot different than corn and soy bean fields!
Loving the Chinese signs everywhere!
Learning new things every day.
Chinese currency: 30 dollars = 1 American dollar
(and I thought inflation was bad back in the states!)
Sorry this post was a bit choppy.
As they say in Chinglish "practice makes perfection" & "time doesn't grow on trees" :-)
That was an awesome post, Janna! I love the 2 ending quotes. LOL.
ReplyDeleteFun fun fun! Missing you girl! <3<3 Hope you have an awesome time there without me. :P
ReplyDeleteYikes! I don't even like seeing crayfish in the wild, let alone putting it into my soup!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got there safely. It will be fun to read your blog.
